Waste Spaces

May 5, 2008

This. Was supposed to be a multi-level herb bed. The squirrels have put more into it than I.

There is honeysuckle trying to take over the patio. Thanking god there is no Kudzu.

The one pot on the patio has acquired volunteer garlic chives. At least it’s a nice architectural plant.

April Rose and Friends

April 30, 2008

All you mothers out there, if you lived around here, the kids could just go out and pick roses enough for a little shock and awe shucks without even blinking twice. I am talking about some serious beauty. Me, I’ve got a little miniature on the front porch. Bought it at Home Despot last summer–for just 50ยข since it looked about to give up the ghost. It doesn’t look all that healthy right now. Some micro buglets of some sort. Still it’s blooming its little vegetable heart out. Probably just trying to procreate before death and just doesn’t realize that it’s sterile.

There are a few more bright and sparkling things out now.

April 16

April 16, 2008

This is the tenth anniversary of the F3 twister that passed through Nashville. I’ll think about that later. For now, I am appreciating WHAT IS. And that is a beautiful, normal, bright spring day.

East Nashville Trim

April 10, 2008

My stepson is thinking about repainting his 1960s ranch house. He’s looking for trim color combination ideas and asked me for some pictures of our neighborhood. Some of the gentrification here is verging on the absurd, but it is a nice change from white with dark shutters.
